Refund Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Everything you need to know about refunds, cancellations, and service credits at StudySolutions — including how we handle failed unlocks, expired Turnitin report links, and Humanizer runs that did not work the way they should have.
01Overview
This Refund Policy explains when you can request a refund from StudySolutions, how service credits work when something goes wrong, and how long each step takes. It applies to every paid subscription and service on studysolutions.app.
Our goal is simple: if you were charged for something that did not work, we make it right. Most issues are resolved through an automatic in-app credit; the rest are handled by our support team in a few business days.
If any part of this policy is unclear, email support@studysolutions.app before opening a dispute with your bank. We can almost always resolve the issue faster than a chargeback can.
02Subscription Cancellations
StudySolutions offers weekly subscriptions billed through Stripe or PayPal, depending on the payment method you selected at checkout. You can cancel at any time from your account settings or by emailing support@studysolutions.app.
When you cancel:
- You keep full access to your current tier until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
- You will not be charged again. Cancellation prevents the next weekly renewal.
- Partial-period refunds are not automatic. Because subscriptions are weekly, we do not pro-rate the unused portion by default. If you cancel shortly after being charged and have not used the service, contact us — see Refund Eligibility.
The free Basic tier does not involve a payment and therefore has no cancellation or refund process.
03Refund Eligibility
We consider refund requests case by case, with a strong bias toward saying yes when the request is reasonable. The situations below are the ones we approve most often:
- Accidental or duplicate charge. You were billed for a plan you did not intend to purchase, or the same plan was charged twice.
- Recent renewal you did not use. Your subscription renewed for a new weekly period and you have not consumed a meaningful portion of that week's quota.
- Service unavailable at the time of purchase. A core feature you paid for was down or unusable during the period you were billed.
- Unauthorized charge. Someone used your payment method without your permission. In this case we may ask you to also secure your account.
Requests generally do not qualify for a full monetary refund when you have already consumed most of that week's quota (unlocks, humanizer runs, or Turnitin submissions). In those cases we typically issue service credit or a quota top-up instead, so you still get the value you paid for. See Failed Unlocks & Service Credits.
04Failed Unlocks & Service Credits
When you submit a document unlock and the result is unusable — the file is corrupted, incomplete, does not match what you requested, or was never delivered — you can report it and we will credit the unlock back to your weekly quota so you can try again at no extra cost.
- Report window: 24 hours. Failed unlocks must be reported within 24 hours of the delivery attempt. This window exists because we can only verify the delivered file against our logs for a limited time.
- Resolution: quota credit, not cash. Approved reports return one unlock to your quota for the current weekly period. Credits do not extend past the current week — see Quota resets below.
- Weekly quotas reset every week and do not roll over. Unused unlocks, humanizer runs, or Turnitin submissions at the end of a billing week are not carried forward to the next week, and credits issued during a given week must be used within that week.
- Repeated identical failures for the same source document may indicate the source itself is unavailable. In that case we will explain the situation and help you find an alternative rather than repeatedly consuming your quota.
To report a failed unlock, use the in-app report button on the unlock in question, or email support@studysolutions.app with your account email and the unlock ID.
05Turnitin Report Issues
Turnitin submissions run through our internal pipeline and return a similarity report and, where applicable, an AI writing indicator. Because Turnitin is a third-party service we do not control, there are a few specifics worth knowing:
- Report links expire in about 24 hours. The download link we deliver for a Turnitin report is short-lived — you should save the PDF locally within 24 hours of delivery. After the link expires we cannot always regenerate the same report, and we cannot refund a submission that was successfully delivered but not downloaded in time.
- Submission never completed. If a submission you paid for never produced a report — for example it failed inside the pipeline or was stuck for an extended period — contact us within 24 hours and we will credit the submission back to your weekly quota so you can retry.
- Report quality disputes. Similarity scores and AI indicators are generated by Turnitin, not by us. We cannot change the numbers in a report or refund a submission because the score was higher or lower than expected.
06Humanizer Issues
The Humanizer rewrites text to reduce AI-detection signals. Because model output varies and detection tools change over time, we handle refunds for Humanizer usage a little differently:
- Failed or empty output. If a Humanizer run returns an error, produces no output, or truncates your text unexpectedly, report it within 24 hours and we will credit the run back to your weekly quota.
- Detection outcomes are not guaranteed. A specific detection score on a third-party tool is not a promise we can make, and we do not refund Humanizer runs because a downstream detector flagged the text.
- Content restrictions. Humanizer runs that we could not process because the input violated our Terms of Service are not eligible for credit.
07How to Request a Refund
All refund and service-credit requests are handled by email. This gives us a written record we can reference across our billing systems and gives you a receipt for the resolution.
- Email: support@studysolutions.app — the only official channel for refund requests.
- Include: the email address on your account, the approximate date of the charge, the reason for the request, and — for failed unlocks, Turnitin submissions, or Humanizer runs — the ID of the item in question.
- Do not open a bank dispute first. See Chargebacks below. Emailing us is faster and does not freeze your funds.
08Processing Times
Once we have confirmed a refund or credit is warranted, here is roughly what to expect:
- Support response: we aim to reply to refund emails within 7 business days, and typically much sooner.
- Refund processing on our side: approved refunds are submitted to Stripe or PayPal within 24 to 72 hours of approval.
- Time to appear on your statement: once we submit the refund, your card issuer or PayPal typically returns the funds within a few business days. International cards and some banks can take longer.
- Service credits (quota top-ups for failed unlocks, Turnitin submissions, or Humanizer runs) are usually applied to your account the same day the report is approved.
09Chargebacks
Before disputing a charge with your bank or card issuer, please email support@studysolutions.app. In almost every case we can resolve the issue faster than a chargeback and without freezing your funds.
- Chargebacks are slow. They typically take two months or more to resolve, and your money is held during that entire period.
- We contest fraudulent chargebacks. When we can document that the service was delivered and used, we will submit that evidence to the card network.
- Accounts with active disputes may be paused until the dispute is resolved, to avoid further billing issues.
If you have already opened a dispute, email us anyway — we can often work with you and your bank to close it and issue the refund directly.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time — for example, when we add new services, change payment providers, or clarify how existing credits work. The Last updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Material changes that reduce the protections available to existing subscribers will be announced in advance through the app or by email. Continuing to use StudySolutions after an update means you accept the updated policy for future charges.
11Contact
Refund questions, cancellation requests, and reports of failed unlocks, Turnitin submissions, or Humanizer runs should all go to support@studysolutions.app. This is the only official channel for billing matters, and messages sent here are tracked against your account.
When emailing, please write from the address associated with your StudySolutions account. This lets us verify the request without additional back-and-forth.
